Volunteering At Amherst Cinema

There is a lot to do at Amherst Cinema, and we can always use some extra help!

A little bit of your time can make a big difference.

Our volunteer opportunities include:

Ushers - Check and tear tickets at theater entrances, greet patrons with a smile, and assist them to a seat if necessary. You may also help clean the theaters between busy rounds, and assist in simple tasks at the concession stand.

Membership Ambassadors - Membership is essential to our organization. We need friendly, enthusiastic individuals to speak to patrons about member benefits, and why membership matters.

Greet:  Welcome patrons at a table in the cinema lobby and engage them about membership.

Speak:  Deliver a quick speech in the theaters before the features start. We will provide you with talking points and materials. Volunteers should be comfortable with public speaking.

See•Hear•Feel•Film Education Liasons - On weekday mornings during the academic year, Amherst Cinema becomes an educational facility for over 1,000 Pioneer Valley third graders. Dozens of volunteers assist the students’ teachers and Jake Meginsky, our Education Specialist, in teaching literacy through media. A training session is required for first-time volunteers, and a minimum commitment of six 3-hour volunteer sessions during the academic year. For more information, visit: amherstcinema.org/education.
